Scandium is a much sought-after exotic element. Nearly as strong as titanium yet lighter, it makes for an amazing metal with which to make anything where strength and lightness are important characteristics. Like airplanes, for example. A fuselage that replaces crappy aluminum for scandium would be able to save ungodly amounts of money for airlines from fuel savings. Too bad there isn’t enough scandium in the world to make a decent fleet of Cessnas, let alone fulfill the needs of Boeing and Airbus!
