As far as collecting the elements go the only thing that is remarkable about samarium is that it's the cheapest of the sixteen in the rare earths group to acquire. Its one major application is for making strong magnets when alloyed with cobalt. The dendritic distillation with its densely fibrous texture is perhaps the most attractive variant offered.
