Holding osmium is a sensory contradiction. It sits at the absolute limit of physical density 22.59 grams per cubic centimeter, edging out iridium to claim the title of densest stable material in the known universe. Twice as heavy as lead and nearly triple the density of iron, even a single gram produces that unmistakable, front-heavy tactile shock the second you pick it up.
Visually, osmium refuses to look like ordinary bullion. While other platinum-group metals reflect a neutral, stark mirror-white, pure osmium exhibits a subtle, natural bluish tint that shifts under direct light. Because of its extreme hardness and towering 3,033 °C melting point, turning raw sintered osmium into a clean, flat bar with razor-sharp laser engraving is an exceptional metallurgical challenge.
We previously offered this only in our 2.5g or 3g size. This newly minted 1-gram bar gives element collectors a far more accessible way to own pure elemental osmium. To accommodate its density, the footprint is noticeably more compact than our standard 1-ounce or base-metal gram bars, but it comes precision-housed in our custom Luciteria protective display box ready for your shelf or periodic table set.
