Little wonder that exotic niobium should be used for jewelry when it rocks such beautiful skin hues. Like most other metals, pure niobium tends to oxidize in air. unlike most other metals, however, its oxides are particularly striking. By carefully heating the virgin metal at a precise speed and temperature you can get most any color in the rainbow. Here we’ve achieved this rainbow effect simply by changing the voltage as the cylinder is slowly pulled out of the anodizing bath.
