Cobalt is an essential metal in heavy industry with many grades of steel containing significant quantities to improve wear and resistance to corrosion. And there's a whole laundry list of other areas where cobalt is used but, a little strangely, you never find pure cobalt objects. The fact that it costs ten times as much as copper might have something to do with it.
