If tin and lead had a baby they’d have named it cadmium. It has the former’s heft and the latter’s softness. Like lead it is also dangerous to health if ingested and becomes a serious waterway pollutant if allowed to degrade in the environment.
But a big solid piece of cadmium is safe to handle (not that a wash with soap and water afterwards would be a bad idea). It takes on a beautiful chrome-like polish but, again, is somewhat fragile given its softness. For this reason you’ll want to protect your investment by keeping it away from those afflicted with butter fingers!
