Go out for a night drive and most cars’ headlights are kind of yellow but a few luxury models will have a dazzling blue-white light. That’s the color of xenon gas as it glows when an ungodly amount of heat, pressure and electricity come together in its presence.

This heavy (for a gas) element has another cool trick up its sleeve. Inside a pressurized ampule such as this one it will turn into a liquid when chilled below 16°C (50°F). Hold it in your hands for few seconds as it heats back up past this point and the liquid inside vanishes before your eyes back to its gaseous state! To save money you can also opt for the normal non-pressurized type which when cooled does…. nothing. Oh well, still a neat addition :-)
