In the last few years gallium has become the plaything of nerds of all ages thanks to increased availability via novelty shops and YouTube videos. Its lack of toxicity and relative low cost help things further, turning it into a safe alternative to mercury which has been all but banned. A fascinating characteristic of gallium, apart from its body temperature melting point, is that when it solidifies it expands like ice does so storing it in glass is inadvisable.
