Bromine Liquid Cube

from $1.00

This quest to make as many cubes of the elements as possible has taken us to extremes! The idea was borrowed from our gas-in-glass cubes and the equipment retrofitted to accept this infamously noxious liquid to flow into the specially shaped glass box. Different than the gas counterparts, these have a longer stem needed in order to flame seal the tip. In the end, a cubic centimeter of bromine can’t serve as a proper “density” reference without knowing the weight of the glass envelope (and that part is unknowable, yes) but we’re betting all the same that this is of little consequence to the ultimate collector seeking to complete a set in this format. In fact, it makes for a handy handle and, of course, fits perfectly in our 10mm cubes display case.

Bromine, for the uninitiated, is a nasty, nasty chemical. Even a small amount like this could ruin your day as just about anything it comes into contact with will get a chemical burn - if not an actual burn of the fiery sort. These glass boxes are pretty sturdy and should survive a fall onto a carpeted floor, maybe even a bare wood floor but on hard pavement? Run. Ships with a little packet of a neutralizing chemical for “just in case” but, really, the best advice is prudence in handling and storage.
