Xenon is a rare gas that is a main component of the high intensity headlights seen in upscale car models. The color temperature of the light is said to be much closer to regular sunlight than that of ordinary halogen lamps and, so the theory goes, it should help the driver do a better job of avoiding accidents. Xenon also makes for an excellent general anesthetic of virtually nil toxicity but its use in surgery has so far never gone past the experimental stage due to the high cost compared to more traditional sedatives.

The name xenon sounds cool and exotic and we've trapped a bit of it here for your collection of elements. Note that this sample is not pressurized and will thus not become supercritical and form into a liquid. However, if you should place it near a plasma globe it will glow an eerie shade of white that is mesmerizing.
