Polonium 50mm Lucite Cube

$50.00

When KGB thugs ordered a hit on their ex-agent turned defector Litvinenko they had every reason to think they had perpetrated the perfect assassination. Given a dose of polonium-210 estimated at just ten micrograms - about the size of a fine ground salt grain - this was still a certain death sentence to anyone who would ingest it. And they slipped this miniscule speck into his tea. The size of the murder weapon guaranteed that it would never be found and the fact that this isotope has a half life of just 138 days all evidence was equally sure to self destruct in a matter of months at the most. However clever the plan, Litvinenko's doctors were aware of their patient's political prominence and the symptoms pointed to foul play of some sort. Before long they figured it all out although, sadly, not before the victim died from the poison.

Obtaining polonium for the purpose of scoring a rare collectible sounds silly given the extreme danger and, given the extreme short half life, a pointless pursuit as well. For those reasons a better alternative is this Lucite block with a picture of a small amount of polonium spread like butter over a screen which functioned as an alpha particle emitter tool with which to calibrate radiation detectors.
