Palladium could be called the "other white gold" due to its increased popularity in jewelry. There is no such thing as white gold, of course, except this industry's marketing hype which needed an appropriately classy euphemism for what would be more crudely called debased gold. Palladium however has no need for such pretenses. It is a true noble metal of high rarity that is also gaining popularity as a commodity in its own right. Although found very rarely in its natural state, palladium isn't mined so much as it is recovered as a byproduct of the refining processes of other metals, most commonly nickel.

This single gram of palladium is a memento of the commoditization of the metal destined as bullion for traders, investors and hoarders alike. As is the case with the rest of our 5cm lineup, this specimen is permanently embedded in a thick wall of the highest grade of acrylic: Lucite.
