Mendelevium 50mm Lucite Cube
In this cube we honor the father of the periodic table, Dmitri Mendeleev, whose contributions to the world of chemistry, frankly, should have earned him a two-digit spot on said table. But hey, at least he wasn't forgotten!
The element itself was manufactured using what by now was a tried and true recipe: you take a sample of a previous synthetic element and pump it with alpha particles and look in the petri dish for even fatter atoms. And sure enough, the technique yielded a handful of atoms with a record 101 protons. And it was time to pop the champagne and start work on Element 102.
