Ytterbium
Ytterbium
$300.00
The conservative, fuzzy-peach look of ytterbium here betrays its usually toothy form as tends to come from the rare earth refiners. Despite the lanthanide series all behaving more or less identically chemically, this slightly yellow metal certainly has a lot of visual character to set it apart from its cousins on this row of the periodic table. Unexpectedly, sometimes entirely dissimilar metals end up looking related when their crystalline form is grown in the special tubes in which these creations are produced; at a macroscopic level appearing rather like the samples from manganese and tellurium, for example!
