Aluminum
Aluminum
Of late aluminum has been experience something of a renaissance. Or maybe makeover is the more appropriate word.
Typically thought of as the lightweight stand-in for steel - if it’s given any thought at all - of late it’s become the darling of luxury goods from watches to sports cars and perhaps most noticeably in this sector as the ultimate in luggage fashion. You know it’s hit a high water mark when your aluminum wares begin losing money to knockoff brands using painted plastic made to look like aluminum. Even the New York Times took note in a recent article noting the resurgence of its use in jewelry; not the vending machine kitsch you’d assume from a generation or two ago but instead the type that the rich might have to fight over to get themselves on waiting lists to buy. Not a bad comeback!
We pay homage to this traditionally overlooked element with these otherworldly looking ultrapure hunks housed in a protective gas bubble guaranteed to conserve its surface sheen forever. Unlike those trendy carry-ons you might have noticed at the airport. Those are getting dinged and dirtied ;-)
