Roman Display Case

$400.00

No doubt about it, the most popular ancient coin collection goal is to get one of each of the emperors that ruled the Roman empire from the time of Augustus through its downfall 500 years later. And no doubt about it, this is also a hopeless task. If the cost doesn’t get you then waiting forever until you get the chance at one of the coins of the very rare emperors will conspire to make this goal impossible to finish. But who cares. The fun is all about the fun you will have plugging the holes one after the other and replacing ugly filler ones with the newest prize that you scored at auction!

This wall-mountable display case allows for an absolute stunning presentation for such a set, turning your home or office into a proper gallery. Made from high-grade acrylic, they will never yellow or turn hazy. They are assembled from two separate panels separated by a quarter inch of space allowing for the included holders to latch into. The front facing panel has the cutouts while the back is printed with the names and reign dates of each of the 190 rulers and family members of the emperors (plus Julius Caesar who although not an emperor belongs in this set anyway!)

This is a large and relatively heavy display for which you will need to allocate a good portion of the wall you intend to hang it on. Measures 47 x 39 inches (119x100cm) so just under four feet on the wide side. Includes the mounting hardware and 191 holders. These clam-shell boxes hold the coin inside under tension and appear to float within, making for a very elegant presentation. A sheet of “sticky dots” is included for optionally placing on the rim of the boxes to prevent accidental falling out.

Recommended assembly: place the back panel against the intended wall location. Mark out the ten holes then drill each with a small bit to allow for easier screwing in of the mounting posts. Set both panels together and insert the two top middle screws with spacers. With a helper to assist, hold up both panels to allow alignment. Lightly screw both into the posts sufficiently to allow the panels to hang securely then work in the remaining screws and dividers. Finger tighten all to finish set up.

Ships by UPS in a huge, heavy box weighing nearly 50lbs! Oh, and just in case it’s not obvious… no, it does not come with the coins. You wish.
