Although quite common, tin metal is rarely used in its pure form due to its softness. Anything made out of tin can be expected to become blunted, dented or bent. Its low melting point (just twice that of boiling water) further limits its usability except where that characteristic is desirable. Well, come to think of it only one such case comes to mind and that would be solder. The majority of tin that is mined the world over will be used to join electrical contacts on circuit boards or wind up on Etsy as pewter art.

We don’t recommend you try to melt these beautiful bars with a lighter but if you were especially bored I guess you could. Hm.
