Indium is a semi-precious metal with tremendous potential as bullion. While it is about as rare as silver in the earth’s crust only about 300 tons are mined each year compared to the estimated 25,000 tons of silver. Even so its rarity is not represented in its price which trails that of silver; usually trading in the $300-$500 per kilogram band. With such a limited supply this price could very easily spike with a relatively minor investment. Buying a million dollars worth of silver will hardly move the bid-ask spread. Doing so on indium would cause shock waves in this tiny sub-market.
