It may not exactly roll off your tongue but the alloy known as indium gallium arsenide has been instrumental in modern electronics. Lasers, nighttime vision equipment and all manner of semiconductors benefit from the photo-electrical properties of this unique recipe. And indium is not exactly abundant. Fewer than a thousand tons (a couple fully loaded jumbo jets, for reference) of indium are mined every year with nary a gram left to spare. Our own allotment here at Luciteria, typically just 25kg per purchase, is often quoted against entries from other bidders; indicating a spirited level of demand. Hopefully, those other bidders don’t snarl too much when they find out the frivolous use we make of that precious indium.
