On the face of it, marrying gold and argon in one glass house seems rather silly. The two elements are perhaps the two most unreactive in the entire periodic table. It is the reason why gold, unlike pretty much any other metal, can be found nice and shiny straight out of the ground after millions of years of being stuck in a witch’s brew of substances and nature’s erosive forces. However, gold is a very soft metal and keeping it from dulling as jewelry or other decorative accents is a tedious task that involves chemicals and polishing.
