Manganese metal 99% electrolytic

from 0.90

Manganese is an industrial metal that sees very little use in its pure form. While the element has several desirable properties it readily oxidizes when heated which limits its applications. However, as an alloying agent it acts as a hardener and, ironically, provides corrosion resistance to other metals... in part because it itself scavenges any oxygen before the other metals get a chance to!

This is the common format of manganese: thin chips with one smooth side while the other is mottled. This is because the purified metal is poured onto a smooth bed where it hardens. Mottled side up where it has the greatest contact with air and the bottom which appears smoother from lack of sufficient oxygen. The sheets are then scraped off and broken up into pieces averaging about 10-20mm.
