Copper was man's first refined metal. The story goes that some 10,000 years ago some guy must have accidentally dropped a piece of his prized chalcopyrite on the fire that was roasting his leg of mammoth. Maybe a little dejected he figured he'd fish it out the next morning when the fire was out and the rock had cooled down.... only to find instead an unfamiliar glint. While gold had been known before then it was uselessly soft and heavy but this newfangled metal could be used for weapons and the technology leap was so vast for ancient man that this serendipitous event in and of itself marked the end of the Stone Age.

So it seems fitting to pay tribute to copper by turning a ancient copper relic into a suitable trophy. What it lacks in sheer purity (the piece is upwards of 90% copper) this arrowhead more than makes up in historical value and interest. Dated to somewhere between the first and four century CE, this arrowhead is known to have been made by the Roman civilization. Whether it was used for target practice or in a bloody war lost to history we cannot tell but we believe simply pondering the endless "what ifs" is reason enough to consider this a collectible of unsurpassed educational value!
