To be honest it can be a bit of a struggle to talk about the rare earth metals in such a way that each is mentioned without repeating details from the other 16 elements in the series. But where this becomes difficult in text (oh, say, cerium is used for flints, is soft, is reactive, yadda yadda) the task is accomplished more easily in visual terms.

We can, for example, exploit its relative softness to pry apart a piece of this metal to show it all splayed out, like in this cube, which is something not easily done with the rest. Doing so we bring out unique traits in a manner that can be grasped by anyone instantly without need of verbose intros. True, as is the case with other reactive metals too fragile to hold their own in the presence of oxygen, the surface will be dulled compared to those specimens stored in argon. However, ampules can only hold small samples so the tradeoff is a much more generously sized piece the better to be studied and appreciated.
