If you were to judge solely by YouTube videos, nitrogen's only use is to freeze things so hard that they shatter. The same can be done with any other elemental gas, of course, but nitrogen is the cheapest to liquefy. Thanks also to its relative inertness it is a staple of every laboratory.
Here you have a little of it at a perfectly safe room temperature :-)
